"A Gift of Friendship” by Billy Hawk and Lewis Derogene also known as PhenomenaLewis.

This photograph, created during our November 2022 art residency at Chateau Orquevaux in France, is another beautiful result of the collaboration between myself and Billy Hawk. It captures a heartfelt and poignant moment shared just before Billy's left to head back to the United States.
As we prepared for his departure, we decided to create together what was a fun and beautiful moment. We transformed my studio, placing a chair on top of a table and adorning that same table with a still life arrangement. The collaboration was a fusion of pure fun, silliness, and a tapestry of unforgettable memories. Every minute spent on this project was a treasure.
In this specific photograph, captured through the lens of Billy's camera, a striking pose emerged. Billy sits gracefully on the chair on top of the table, exuding a calm and noble presence, while I, in a relaxed posture, face him. My elbow rested comfortably on a pillow with a book in hand. My other hand gently offers a pomegranate to Billy. His hand drapes casually over the pomegranate, as if ready to accept this gift, an expression of subtle grandeur on his face.
This frame encapsulates a profound connection, a shared moment of friendship, and the exchange of emotion and empathy. As you look at this photograph, I invite you to explore the emotions it evokes. The play of light and mood conveys a myriad of feelings, a sense of the sublime captured in a single moment.
Among the many photographs created that day, this one stands out as a cherished favorite, a memory I hold dear. This project, akin to a memoir, is a treasure I will always cherish.
