This Life

This life we’re living

Is being lived in vain

How does one identify

The pigment of my skin

As a threat to this country

The same country I recently celebrated

Through lies of having freedom

Liberty denied to people

People of color and people of God

The madness is now suffocating the minds that we need the most

The minds that are to keep watch over the people

The people that are now divided

One does not trust the other

While another is fighting for one

This life we’re living

Is being lived in vain

How does one provoke

The thoughts of the oppressed

That brings forth the karma

While turning a blind eye to the boomerang that they threw with full force

This life

In this time

Is a lie

How can my brother not start to hate his skin

Buy the cream of discoloration from the hand of the devil

Destroy the image that God’s hands personally created

And deny who and what he truly is

How can my sister not start to hate her skin

Envy the one missing a drop of melanin

And upset the God that called her beautiful once forming her in the womb

And deny who and what she truly is

This life we’re living

Is being lived in vain

For we have broken the spirit of love

And created hate

We have broken the spirit of trust

And created hate

We have broken the spirit of unity

And created hate

This life we’re living

Is not worth living
