When I photographed Parallel in my room the summer of 2020, it was in the midst of yet another outcry within the Black community after Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and many other of our brothers and sisters were removed from existence. I was and still am angry and sad. A wave of so many different emotions hit me, and I felt this was the best way to represent how I was feeling. I was holding the chain between both hands, not shackled but still feeling like there's a blockage from being completely free.
